Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student attempts to cover the main features of the chart, including general trends and specific figures for the various activities, such as the film club and table tennis. However, there are notable inaccuracies in reporting the data. For instance, the student states that amateur dramatics had 'only lefting 9 participants' in 2020, whereas the graph indicates approximately 6 participants. Similarly, musical performances are stated to have '20 over time in 2020', which slightly misreads the figure of roughly 18. Furthermore, the overview contains imprecise language and minor generalisations about the trends. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the precision of data reporting prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is divided into paragraphs, which helps structure the information. However, the logical progression is sometimes hindered by awkward transitions and phrasing, such as 'Meanwhile, amateur dramatics is the only club that is fluctuating and going down, whereas table tennis is the only activity that makes the individual go high overtime.' Cohesive devices are used, but their application is occasionally mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'On the other hand...'). Paragraphing is present, but the internal grouping of ideas lacks smooth connectivity, resulting in a somewhat disjointed flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent lexical errors and awkward collocations. Examples include 'social criteria' instead of 'social centre', 'flim club' (spelling error), 'craze is still the same', and 'lefting 9 participants'. Attempts at less common vocabulary are either inaccurate or restricted to simple descriptive phrases like 'suddenly fell' and 'biggest change'. These errors occasionally draw attention, but they do not completely impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('musical performances also have changes... but have 20'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward phrasing ('doesnot change the participants that much'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but structural inaccuracies are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader at times.
