Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response covers all the main activities shown in the graph and attempts to make comparisons. However, there are several noticeable inaccuracies in reporting the data. For example, the student states that 'table tennis the second highest participants activity after the film club', whereas table tennis started as the lowest group in 2000 before rising significantly. Furthermore, stating that 'all activities increased over that time period except than the amateur dramatics' ignores the fluctuations in martial arts. The overview is somewhat confused by inaccurate details. Therefore, the task achievement is limited by these misinterpretations of the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing statements (e.g., 'Thirdly, Martial arts fluctuated...'). Cohesive devices are used, but often mechanically or inappropriately, such as 'In contract', 'Thirdly', and 'Furthermore'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the exact relationships between the data points. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is weak.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several awkward word choices and phrasing errors, such as 'most highest activity', 'table tennis the second highest participants activity', and 'musical performaces'. There are spelling mistakes ('occured', 'performaces', 'othjer', 'paticipants') and unnatural collocations. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task, meaning it struggles to convey precise meanings smoothly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing contains a limited range of sentence structures, with frequent grammatical errors that often hinder clarity. Examples include missing verbs or prepositions ('table tennis the second highest participants activity', 'film club participated 65 at starting in 2000'), incorrect comparative forms ('most highest'), and awkward clause structures. Complex sentence attempts frequently result in ungrammatical or confusing phrasing. Punctuation errors are also present.
