Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at 106 words. Consequently, the coverage of the task is incomplete, as the student only partially reports on a few data points from the graph (such as the film club and martial arts) and completely omits several key categories like table tennis and musical performances over the later years. There is an attempt at an overview, but it is superficial. Due to the severe under-length and lack of full development of main features, the response aligns with Band 4.0 descriptors for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response lacks appropriate paragraphing and is presented in a very fragmented, unstructured manner. While there are some basic cohesive attempts like 'Overall' and 'First of all', the logical progression breaks down quickly. Sentences trail off without finishing the comparison, and referencing is weak, as seen in the disjointed sentence structure: 'In amateur dramatics the number of participants were between 5 to 25'. The overall arrangement lacks the cohesive control needed for higher bands, placing this aspect at a Band 5.0 level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, such as 'number of participants' repeated multiple times. There are several spelling and word-choice errors, including 'performnaces', 'approxiemately', and the misuse of 'held on one social centre' instead of 'at one social centre'. The student attempts some numerical and descriptive language, but the range is limited and inadequate for a fully realized academic task response, justifying a Band 5.0 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing contains a very limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple or faulty complex sentences. There are notable grammatical errors throughout, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('number of participants in musical performnaces are') and tense confusion ('were start from'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing full stops and capitalisation slips. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptor.
