Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student attempts to cover all parts of the prompt by describing the main trends across the five activities shown in the graph. An overview is attempted in the first paragraph, noting the general upward trend of most categories contrasted with amateur dramatics. However, the task achievement is hindered by several inaccurate data reports and vague generalisations. For example, the student claims that film club and martial arts participants are about 66 and 37 respectively by 2020, which is reasonably accurate, but states that musical performances started with 'none participant' when the graph shows zero at 2000. Furthermore, data referencing lacks precision and contains grammatical interference that obscures specific points. While main features are outlined, the response falls short of a higher band due to inaccurate figures and under-developed comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is divided into three paragraphs, providing a basic structural layout with an introductory overview and body paragraphs dedicated to specific activities. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by poor cohesion and mechanical referencing. Phrases such as 'Looking from an overall perspective, all activities participants increase as per time expect amateur dramatics' display awkward transition management. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and sometimes inaccurate, resulting in a disjointed flow. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks clear organisation, making the text occasionally difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range to describe basic trends, using terms such as 'increase', 'fluctuated', and 'decline'. However, there are numerous word choice and collocation errors, such as 'how many people participants in different five activities', 'none participant', and 'incline to'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary often result in awkward phrasing or incorrect forms. Spelling and word-formation errors (e.g., 'beggning', 'activities' instead of 'activity') are noticeable and occasionally impede communication, placing the response firmly in the Band 5 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and flawed attempts at complex clauses. Grammatical errors are frequent and pervasive throughout the response. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('all activities participants increase', 'number of participant are'), missing prepositions, and incorrect tense usage ('was increase', 'seems to followed'). These persistent errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and distract from the content, though the general meaning remains partially retrievable.
