Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by selecting and reporting on the main trends and features of the visual data. The overview attempts to capture the general picture, noting that the film club maintained its leading position while other activities experienced various fluctuations. However, some parts of the task are developed more fully than others, and certain details are imprecise or slightly misreported, such as the statement regarding martial arts starting and ending with the same count near 40 when it began at 36. Key comparative features, such as the dramatic rise of table tennis and the decline of amateur dramatics, are correctly identified, but overall the development remains somewhat uneven, which places the response at this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to group information by categories across paragraphs. However, progression is disrupted by mechanical and faulty cohesion, as well as awkward transitions between sentences, such as starting paragraphs with 'In the year 2000 table tennies is least and it roses little bit...' and 'The martial arts are started and ended...'. Referencing and logical sequencing are at times unclear, and paragraphing is poorly managed, resulting in a text that lacks smooth flow and clear progression from start to finish.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'fluctuations', 'participants', and 'performances'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the response, such as 'activites' instead of activities, 'clued' instead of club, 'tennies' instead of tennis, 'roses' instead of rose, and 'darmatics' instead of dramatics. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they reflect a limited vocabulary control and regular slips in word form and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb tenses, voice, and articles, such as 'how many number of participants', 'remaing activites are with some', 'table tennies is least', 'are begined at 2005', 'crosses amateur darmatics', and 'The martial arts are started'. These errors in grammar and punctuation occur frequently and can occasionally cause some difficulty or hesitation for the reader, fitting the description of a limited range with persistent inaccuracies.
