Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response partially addresses the task. While you have attempted to summarise the main features, such as identifying the film club as the highest and noting the trends for table tennis and amateur dramatics, the response is incomplete because it cuts off mid-sentence. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the text falls significantly short of the 150-word minimum. To reach a higher band, you must ensure that all parts of the chart are fully covered with an adequate overview and that you write a complete response meeting the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation, including a basic introduction and overview, but the overall progression is disrupted by the abrupt ending of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but referencing and linking devices are limited and mechanical, such as 'On the other hand'. To improve, you should ensure that your ideas flow logically from start to finish without interruption, and use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to connect your points clearly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate to describe the chart. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'amount' instead of 'number' for countable participants, 'vaious', 'artes', and 'ameteur'. These errors reflect a limited control over word forms and spelling. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a more precise range of vocabulary and check your spelling carefully to avoid impeding communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You have used a limited range of sentence structures, primarily relying on simple sentences with frequent errors. Examples include 'film club was the steadily the highest participated' and 'in 200.' instead of '2000'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and articles that cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, you should aim to increase your range of grammatical structures and ensure greater accuracy in your basic sentence construction and punctuation.
