Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting some key features and data points from the chart, but with noticeable inaccuracies and limitations in development. While an overview is attempted, it is very basic. For instance, the student reports that film club activities depict significant growth, but the figures cited are imprecise or misread in places, such as stating musical performances went from 0 to '19 number of participants approxmately' when the data shows around 18. Furthermore, some data is conflated or unclearly presented, leading to an under-developed summary of the trends. To reach a higher level, the response needs to present a clearer, more fully developed overview of the main trends without inaccuracies in data reporting, ensuring all selected features are properly supported by the provided visual evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation evident in the text, as the student attempts to group information by activities across the paragraphs. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the logical flow is hindered by mechanical and repetitive transitions such as 'To start with', 'Then we have', and 'Finaly'. Paragraphing is used, but the internal cohesion of sentences and paragraphs is frequently faulty or inaccurate. For example, referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices are inadequate to smoothly guide the reader through the comparisons. To improve in this area, the writer should focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices naturally to link ideas and ensure that the structure moves logically from an introductory overview to well-connected body paragraphs detailing specific trends and comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic information about the graph. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'significant growth', 'sudden declined', and 'waving method', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word form and collocation, such as 'significantly growth' instead of 'significant growth' and 'matrial arts' (spelling). There are also awkward phrasings like 'comence with' and 'ended upto'. These errors and the restricted range sometimes cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to expand their lexical repertoire, use appropriate word forms consistently, and improve spelling and collocation when describing statistical trends and visual data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic coordination. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. Issues include problems with verb tenses and forms (e.g., 'participants participate', 'activities depicts', 'amateur shows sudden declined'), missing articles, and incorrect prepositions (e.g., 'by 0 number of participants to 19'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To progress, the student must incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with better control, paying closer attention to subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and accurate grammatical patterns.
