Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially by reporting some main features and making basic comparisons, such as noting the overall increase in table tennis and the decrease in amateur dramatics. However, the development of ideas is limited and mechanical. For instance, the discussion of individual trends relies on isolated, sometimes inaccurate data points without fully synthesizing the broader movements of all categories. Additionally, the overview provided in the first paragraph is extremely brief and captures only a couple of features rather than an overarching summary of the graph's main trends. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present a clearer, more comprehensive overview and extend the support for all key trends with greater accuracy.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some organizational structure with an introduction and body paragraphs dedicated to different activities. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the transitions between sentences often feel abrupt or disjointed. Cohesive devices are used minimally and sometimes inaccurately, such as the awkward transition in 'Where as for the activity...'. Furthermore, paragraphing is underdeveloped, and referencing within the text is not always clear, making it difficult for the reader to follow a logical narrative throughout the response. Improving logical linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas will significantly enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic information about the chart. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as misspelling 'players' as 'plaayers', 'amateur' as 'amatuer', 'martial' as 'matial', and 'film' as 'flim'. Additionally, word choices like 'great fall' or 'non of participant' reflect a restricted lexical range and awkward collocations. While the reader can generally understand the intended meaning, these frequent errors and the lack of less common vocabulary prevent the response from achieving a higher band. Incorporating a wider variety of precise, topic-specific terms and improving spelling accuracy are essential steps forward.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing shows a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors in complex constructions. There are numerous grammatical inaccuracies throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the chart illustrate', 'participants of matial arts starts'), incorrect prepositions, and article omissions. For example, 'non of participant of musical performances is seen' demonstrates faulty grammatical patterns and singular/plural confusion. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and distract from the content. To improve, the writer should focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct verb tenses for past data, and reducing errors in agreement and articles.
