Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only partially. While the student attempts to summarise the graph, the overall overview is incomplete and grammatically broken ("the highest amount of participants in the activity of film club however, the least number of contributers in musical performances"). Furthermore, several key features and figures are either inaccurate or poorly reported, such as claiming table tennis reached 50 in 2022 (when the graph ends in 2020) and stating musical performances reached 11 in 2020 when the data shows roughly 18. Ideas are limited and under-developed, lacking a fully realised comparison across all categories.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation with paragraph breaks, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as starting paragraphs with "Taking the statistical data it can be considered that..." and "Moving further,". Reference and linking words are mechanical and occasionally confusing, leading to a disjointed flow where information jumps abruptly between categories without establishing a coherent narrative structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate. The writer relies heavily on basic, repetitive phrasing such as "number of participants" and "activity". There are several noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as "amount of participants" instead of "number of participants", "contributers" (spelling and collocation error for participants), "participators", and "highly increased". These lexical inaccuracies and occasional spelling slips cause some distraction for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout, including missing verbs or incomplete clauses in the overview ("the highest amount of participants in the activity of film club however, the least number..."), preposition errors ("in the 2000 to 2020", "in the 2020"), and awkward passive constructions ("it was reached on only 11"). These frequent errors cause noticeable difficulty and strain for the reader.
