Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features and trends of the five activities, such as identifying the Film club as the most popular throughout and noting the significant rise in Table tennis. However, some ideas are under-developed or inadequately supported, and there are occasional inaccuracies in reporting specific details, such as misinterpreting the final data points for Amateur dramatics and Musical performances. The overview provided in the second paragraph captures general trends, but lacks precision. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that all key data points are cited accurately and that every trend is fully and clearly elaborated with precise figures from the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that separate the data logically. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related activities. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in awkward transitions like 'Whereas, decline in Musical performance' and 'To commence with'. Reference words and cohesive devices are occasionally inaccurate or repetitive, which interrupts the smooth progression of ideas. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of seamless cohesive devices and ensure that sentences link together naturally without abrupt shifts in structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey basic trends such as 'fluctuated slightly', 'substantial increase', and 'gradually surged'. However, there is a noticeable presence of word-choice errors, incorrect word forms, and spelling mistakes—such as 'fighres', 'secong', and 'Tabe tennis'—that occasionally hinder the precision of your writing. Attempts to use less common vocabulary sometimes result in unnatural phrasing, for instance, 'the secong highest activities were more number of participants was'. To achieve a higher band, expand your lexical repertoire and refine your control over word choice, word formation, and spelling to ensure accuracy and natural style.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying on a mix of simple forms and attempted complex sentences that frequently contain grammatical errors. Examples of errors include awkward relative clauses, missing prepositions, and tense inconsistencies, such as 'it was slightly decrease in 2010', 'this activity were dropped number of participants', and 'while in 2010 it reached to the total 10 number of people'. These frequent errors in grammar and punctuation can cause some difficulty for the reader. To move up to the next band, you need to demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns, verb forms, and subject-verb agreement, producing more error-free sentences throughout.
