Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response satisfies the requirements for reporting main features and makes relevant comparisons, sitting comfortably between bands. The writer successfully covers all five activities and provides a clear overview highlighting the dominant trend of the film club and the contrasting lack of initial interest in musical performances. However, the development of some data points is slightly uneven. For instance, the discussion of table tennis mentions a sharp incline but misreads the starting point in the year 2000, and the description of amateur dramatics contains some inaccuracies regarding the initial figures compared to the visual data. These minor lapses in precise data reporting prevent the response from achieving a higher rating, yet the overall coverage of key trends and comparisons remains relevant and generally accurate.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction to the overview and body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct groups of activities. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as 'Overall', 'To intiate with', and 'When it comes to', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive in structure. Referencing is generally clear, but occasional minor slips in logical flow, such as the sudden shift between describing different activities without smoother integration, keep the cohesion within this band. The organizational structure is clear enough to guide the reader through the data successfully.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The lexical resource used is adequate for the task, successfully attempting less common vocabulary such as 'fluctuations', 'gradually', and 'incline'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include 'delined' instead of 'declined', 'shapt' instead of 'sharp', 'begain' instead of 'began', and awkward phrasing like 'reached at' and 'st begining'. These errors do not impede overall communication, but the frequency of spelling mistakes and imprecise lexical choices prevents the response from reaching the next level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and time markers appropriately. There are some error-free sentences, but a noticeable cluster of grammatical inaccuracies persists. These include preposition errors such as 'at the end of the year' when referring to a point on a timeline, article omissions like 'in city of Austrailia', and verb form issues such as 'it was accounted for akmost 18 number'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and these grammatical slips rarely impede communication, reflecting typical control at this level.
