Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all parts of the task by providing an overview and selecting the main features and trends from the graph. You correctly identify that film club, table tennis, and musical performances saw higher numbers in 2020 compared to 2000, while amateur dramatics decreased and martial arts remained relatively stable. However, some parts of your response are slightly under-developed or contain minor inaccuracies based on the visual data. For instance, you mention that musical performances had '0 participants in 2005' and rose to '10 participants in 2020', whereas the graph shows 18 participants in 2020. Similarly, you state that martial arts participants 'remained same over the years', but the figures fluctuate between 32 and 38. To reach a higher band, ensure all data points are reported with greater precision and that the overview clearly highlights the most striking overall trends.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your response presents a clear overall arrangement with an introductory paragraph, an overview, and body paragraphs that group the activities logically. You make use of cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In contrast', 'Initially', and 'However' to guide the reader through the data. Nevertheless, cohesion is at times mechanical or slightly faulty, and referencing is occasionally unclear. For example, the transition 'Whereas, material arts aprticipants remained same for over two decades' creates a fragmented sentence structure due to punctuation and linking issues. Additionally, the progression between sentences could be smoother. To achieve a higher level of cohesion, ensure that transitional phrases integrate naturally with your clauses and that paragraph boundaries consistently separate distinct trends.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and descriptive phrases such as 'drastically', 'sharp rise', and 'gradually rise up'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors throughout the text that prevent a higher score, such as writing 'participates' instead of 'participating', 'material arts' instead of 'martial arts', and 'aprticipants'. There are also minor collocational slips, such as 'musical performances have 0 participants' rather than 'recorded zero participants'. To improve your lexical score, you should expand your range of precise synonyms for data reporting, pay closer attention to word forms and parts of speech, and carefully check your spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You display a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like relative clauses ('film club has the highest number of people participating in it, which tends to remain same') and contrastive clauses. However, there are several grammatical errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'activities like film club, table tennis and musical performances tends to have' (where the plural subject requires 'tend'), 'film club has' (inconsistent past tense reporting), and 'slight changes in between' (unnecessary prepositional ending). While these errors rarely impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to keep the grammar score at this level. To progress, aim for greater accuracy in tense consistency when describing past trends and refine your control over subject-verb agreement.
