Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to address all parts of the prompt by summarizing the main trends of the activities shown in the graph. However, the information presented is partially inaccurate and lacks clear overview development. For instance, the student states that the Film club and Martial arts remained constant throughout the whole period, whereas the data shows fluctuations for both activities. Additionally, some initial starting values and final figures are incorrectly reported, such as claiming the Film club started with 38 participants when the chart shows 64. The overview provided in the second paragraph is underdeveloped and disjointed, preventing the task achievement from reaching a higher level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is an attempt to organise the response into paragraphs, but the overall progression of ideas is lacking. The text relies heavily on repetitive transitional phrases such as "overall the period" and "started from 2000" rather than a varied and natural sequence of cohesive devices. Paragraphing is disjointed, with the writer splitting observations into multiple short paragraphs that often reiterate points already made, such as repeating the overall trends in the final paragraph. Referencing and logical sequencing need more precision to guide the reader smoothly through the comparative data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer successfully employs basic trend vocabulary such as "rise", "downfall", and "slight rise", but attempts at less common phrasing or precise descriptions lead to noticeable errors and inaccuracies, such as writing "high rise" instead of a sharp or significant increase. There are also occasional word form and spelling slips, such as "Amature" instead of amateur and "upto". While meaning is generally conveyed, the lexical range remains restricted and repetitive.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by basic coordinators. When the writer attempts more complex structures, errors frequently occur in punctuation, prepositions, and verb forms, such as "number fo 18 participants" and missing capitalization or full stops between clauses. Errors in agreement and tense consistency are also present throughout the text, creating frequent distractions and making some sentences difficult for the reader to parse.
