Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting on the main features and trends across the activities provided in the graph. An overview is successfully attempted, noting that the film club was the most popular activity and that amateur dramatics saw a sharp decrease. However, some ideas and details are under-developed or imprecise. For instance, the reporting of specific figures contains some inaccuracies when compared to the visual data, such as stating that the film club remained at 65 or that musical performances started in 2005 with no participants when the graph shows zero values starting in 2000. While the general trends are captured, greater precision in reporting the data would elevate this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing separating the introduction, overview, and body details. Information is generally organized logically, starting with a broad summary followed by specific category details. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. Transition markers like 'In the contrast' and 'with a time' are unnatural or inaccurate, and referencing within sentences occasionally lacks clarity, such as the pronoun use in 'it introduced in 2005, they attached 10 persons'. Paragraphing is present, but the logical progression between sentences could be smoothed out with more flexible and accurate cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical resource used is adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe general trends and numbers. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'attendees', 'individuals', and 'personalities', but these attempts are often accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form. Examples include awkward expressions like 'numerous of attendees', 'attached with', 'styed same', and 'linked personalities'. While communication is maintained despite these flaws, the vocabulary remains limited and frequently strained by inappropriate lexical choices and non-standard word formations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like relative clauses and comparative constructions. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, verb forms, and articles that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of grammatical lapses include 'The graph under gives', 'the amateur dramatics decrease sharply', 'this quantity have been exceeded', 'have been decreased continuously', and 'have been styed same'. Articles and prepositions are also mismanaged in several instances, reflecting limited control over complex patterns and persistent errors in basic grammatical agreements.
