Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt by mentioning several activities from the line graph, but it does so only minimally. The overview is very basic, stating simply that the film club was the most popular, and it misses a clear summary of overall trends. Furthermore, there are significant inaccuracies in reporting the data: for instance, the writer claims the amateur dramatics line decreased and then increased to 55 participants, whereas the graph actually shows a sharp decline down to 6 participants by 2020. Similarly, table tennis is described as decreasing to 5 participants after 2010, which contradicts the upward trend visible in the data. Because the information is frequently misread and key comparisons are lacking, the response remains at a foundational level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation in the text, with an introductory sentence followed by body paragraphs detailing different activities. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the arrangement of information feels disjointed. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as the abrupt transition 'Moreever, there are different other activities' and the repetitive use of 'where' to introduce data points (e.g., 'where 55 particepents participate in to the activity'). Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs lack internal cohesion and logical sequencing, resulting in a somewhat confusing flow for the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple terms like 'number', 'participants', and 'activity'. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'illutrates', 'Australlia', 'Moreever', 'partcipants', and 'performences'. Less common lexical items are rarely attempted, and when the writer tries to use more complex phrasing, inaccuracies occur, such as 'Martial art activity' instead of 'participants in martial arts'. These errors and the limited range place the lexical score at this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammar demonstrates a very limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences alongside faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'The line graph of Amateur dramatics is decreased', 'participants have participate', and 'participate in to the activity'. Punctuation is also problematic, including sentence fragments like 'where number of participants participate in it' and misplaced periods. These frequent grammatical errors frequently distract the reader and distort meaning at times.
