Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by selecting and reporting the main features, such as the overall dominance of the film club and the dramatic rise in table tennis. However, some aspects are unevenly developed or contain minor inaccuracies in data reading, such as stating the film club fell to 59 in 2010 when the chart shows it around 60, and claiming musical performances started in 2000 when the series actually begins at zero. The overview outlines the main trends clearly, but the supporting details remain somewhat limited and under-developed in places, placing the task response within this band level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, overview, and body paragraphs logically. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'Overall', 'In 2000', and 'by contrast', though referencing and transitions can occasionally feel mechanical or repetitive. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, but the logical flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother to achieve a higher level of cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'fluctuated', 'drastic decline', and 'rapid growth'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'amateur dramatic' instead of 'amateur dramatics', 'perfomance' instead of 'performances', and 'becomed the least liked sports' instead of 'activities'. Spelling mistakes like 'diffrent', 'through out', 'slighted', and 'rised' occur throughout the response, though communication of the main data points is generally maintained.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a limited range of structures, with mostly simple sentences and a few basic attempts at complex forms that often contain errors. There are frequent grammatical mistakes, including missing capitalisation for proper nouns ('melbourne', 'australia'), incorrect verb forms ('rised', 'account at second position'), and missing prepositions or articles ('attending amateur'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding sentence boundaries and capitalization, which causes some difficulty for the reader.
