Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the student attempts to summarise the overall information, the selection of data is restricted and lacks a clear overview of the main trends across the entire period. Some of the reported details are inaccurate or generalised loosely, such as stating that 'only a few people left who are still participating' for amateur dramatics, rather than reporting the exact downward trajectory to a low of six participants. Furthermore, key comparisons between categories are largely missed or underdeveloped, preventing a fully comprehensive account of the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation in the response, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The text is presented as a single dense block without paragraphing, making the logical flow difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes repetitive, and referencing between sentences is occasionally unclear, which creates a mechanical feel rather than a smooth, cohesive progression of ideas throughout the summary.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as 'activites', 'cenrtre', 'peroid', and 'attracted too much people', which can cause some difficulty for the reader. The student attempts basic descriptive vocabulary but lacks the precision, variety, and control needed to discuss data fluently, relying heavily on repetitive phrasing like 'participating in the activity'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with occasional, often faulty, attempts at complex forms. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, prepositions, and article usage, such as 'is the interesting one', 'The grapgh shows us that', and 'did not attracted too much people'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and require the reader to slow down, though the general meaning of the individual points remains accessible.
