Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response attempts to address the task by describing the main features of the line graph, but it contains several inaccuracies and omissions. Firstly, the student misidentifies the visual format in the introduction, calling it a 'pie chart' instead of a line graph. Furthermore, some of the data points and trends are reported imprecisely or unclearly. While the highest participation in the Film club and the general trend of Table tennis are mentioned, the overall selection lacks a fully developed overview and adequate coverage of all categories, such as the details of Martial arts and Musical performances. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, with limited and under-developed ideas throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response shows some basic organisation with paragraph breaks, but there is a lack of clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'To begain with', 'after this span', and 'Admittebly', which feel mechanical rather than natural. Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences and ideas often feel disjointed and lack smooth transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall logical flow is hindered by abrupt shifts between data points, resulting in a somewhat fragmented structure that lacks sophisticated cohesive control.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'activiies', 'begain', 'paticipated', 'comapre', 'participant', and 'Admittebly'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, but these attempts are often imprecise or inaccurate, causing some difficulty for the reader. While basic terms like 'increase', 'decline', and 'trend' are introduced, the overall lexical range remains narrow and restricted by frequent spelling and morphological inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside faulty attempts at complex ones. Frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'participation\'numbers', 'no member take part'), article omission (e.g., 'in one social centre', 'highest as comapre to others activities'), and faulty prepositions (e.g., 'take part in this approximately between'). Punctuation and spacing errors, such as missing spaces after commas, are also common. These frequent errors can cause occasional difficulty and strain for the reader.
