Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main contrast between the consistently high film-club figures and the sharp rise in table tennis, and you also note the decline in amateur dramatics. However, coverage is only partial: the final sentence breaks off at “On the other hand, Muc…”, leaving musical performances unreported, despite their rise from zero to about 18. Some figures are also imprecise or mislabelled: film-club participation is described as fluctuating between 63 and 65, whereas it falls to about 60 before recovering to 66; “Amateur Arts” should be amateur dramatics. The overview gives a useful broad picture, but the report needs complete coverage and more accurate selection of key changes and values.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs describing the activities. Grouping film club and martial arts together, then contrasting the declining amateur-dramatics figures, gives the reader some organisation. However, progression is weakened by the unfinished final sentence, which leaves one series and the conclusion of the report absent. Linking is also sometimes awkward or repetitive: “In contrast” is followed by “However” in the overview, and “On the other hand” introduces a sentence that does not reach its point. Develop a complete final paragraph and use transitions to show clear comparisons between the series rather than relying on repeated contrast markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of trend vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “declined,” “increased” and “surged,” which helps communicate the main movements. Some choices are less precise or natural for describing a graph: “compares the data of participants” would be clearer as “shows the number of participants,” while “dominated the figures” is an imprecise way to say that film club had the highest participation. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Austrail,” “slighlty,” “drammatically” and “particpants,” and the activity label “Amateur Arts” is inaccurate. Check spelling and use consistent, exact names for each activity; this will make your otherwise understandable vocabulary more reliable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple statements and longer clauses, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, sentence control is uneven. For example, “the number of Table tennis participants were around 17” has a subject–verb agreement error; “between 2000 to 2020” uses an incorrect preposition pattern; and “In contrast.” is an incomplete punctuation break before the next sentence. The opening phrase “between years 2000 and 2020” also needs a more natural article construction. Use complete sentences, check singular subjects such as “the number,” and review punctuation around linking expressions. More accurate control of these patterns would make the range of structures clearer.
