Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant features, including the film club’s leading position, the decline in amateur dramatics, and growth in table tennis and musical performances. However, the report only partially summarises the graph: it gives end-period figures as though they describe the whole period, claiming table tennis was at about 55 alongside film club, when it began at 16 and rose substantially later. The overview is also unclear and internally inconsistent: amateur dramatics is described as the lowest “after a slight increase,” while the final sentence says it recorded the opposite trend, and “filmclub became the largest/smallest” is unresolved. Include a clear overview of the main changes and compare the series accurately across the period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an identifiable introduction, overview and body paragraphs, and it groups some activities together. However, progression is difficult to follow because the report shifts between end-point values and trends without clearly signalling the time frame. For example, “This was followed by table tennis at 55” appears to compare the 2020 figure with film club, but “throughout the period” then makes the comparison inaccurate. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “Turning to,” and “Meanwhile” provide some structure, but connections are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The final sentence, with “largest/smallest” and “opposite trend,” leaves the conclusion unfinished. Organise the body chronologically or by contrasting trends, and use precise references to years and categories.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “participants,” “minor fluctuations,” “declined,” and “comparatively lower,” which helps describe the graph. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language, such as “accounted for” and “exhibited mixed trends.” However, spelling and word-form errors are noticeable, including “amatuer,” “gradaull,” “decresed,” and “stabled.” Some phrases are awkward or imprecise: “the graph lines illustrates” and “recorded the opposite trend” do not express the intended meaning clearly. The slash constructions “largest/smallest” and “filmclub” also reduce polish. Check spelling carefully and choose precise trend language, such as “rose steadily” or “fell sharply,” rather than broad or unresolved wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a concessive clause beginning “Although.” Some sentence patterns communicate the main idea, but errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles and punctuation are frequent enough to make parts difficult to read. For example, “the graph lines illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “after an slight increase.in addition” contains an article error and faulty sentence punctuation. Several clauses run together in “experienced an gradaull increasereaching around 20 participantsin 2020,” obscuring the relationship between the ideas. The final sentence is also grammatically incomplete in meaning because of the unresolved alternatives. Use shorter, complete sentences and proofread agreement, articles, spacing and punctuation.
