Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main patterns accurately: the film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises sharply, and amateur dramatics declines to the lowest level. The overview is relevant, and most reported figures are close to the chart, including the film club’s fall to about 60 before recovering and the table-tennis increase to roughly 50. This covers the task well, but some details are incomplete or imprecise. For example, table tennis is about 20 in both 2005 and 2010, rather than showing a steady increase to 17 by 2010, and its 2020 figure is closer to 54. Musical performances reach about 18 in 2020, not 15. More precise comparisons and coverage of the intermediate years would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a summary of the main trends, and separate paragraphs describing the activities. This makes the information easy to locate, and the grouping of film club, martial arts and amateur dramatics before the remaining activities is sensible. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is sometimes weakened by long strings of clauses joined with “it” or “then,” as in the film-club and martial-arts descriptions. Some links are also mechanical, and the final paragraph ends without a concluding comparison. Use clearer sentence boundaries and vary linking expressions to show contrast and change over time. For example, contrast the sharp rise in table tennis with the decline in amateur dramatics.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “decline,” “fluctuation,” and “growth,” and the activity names are generally handled clearly. This gives you enough language to communicate the main trends, but the range and control are uneven. Several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “had highest participants,” “shows rapid growth,” and “it slightly increase.” There are also spelling errors, including “patricipants,” “form,” and “slichtly,” which reduce accuracy. Choose more natural collocations for describing figures and trends, and check spelling carefully. Using alternatives such as “the number of participants,” “rose sharply,” and “fell steadily” would make the report more precise and less repetitive.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to describe changes across time and use some connected clauses, but sentence structures are mostly simple or joined together without reliable control. Errors occur in verb forms and agreement: “it slightly go down,” “it shows gradual fluctuation,” and “it slightly increase” need forms such as “went down,” “showed,” and “increased.” Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “had 65 participant” and “had highest participants.” Several sentences run together, particularly the descriptions of film club and martial arts, making relationships between ideas less clear. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences with consistent past-tense verbs, then add a few accurate complex sentences to compare trends.
