Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main overall pattern: film club remains the leading activity, table tennis rises strongly, amateur dramatics declines, and musical performances grow from zero. Several figures and comparisons, however, do not match the graph. Table tennis starts at about 16, not 25, and rises to about 54, not 60; it does not drop between 2005 and 2010, remaining around 20. Amateur dramatics ends at about 6, close to your estimate, while martial arts fluctuates around the mid-30s. The comparison that martial arts and amateur dramatics were close initially is relevant, but the difference was about 10 participants in 2000, not two. A more accurate overview and carefully selected figures would make the report more complete and reliable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph covering the leading activities, a comparison of martial arts and amateur dramatics, and a final point about musical performances. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information. However, some connections between ideas are awkward or unclear, particularly “After that table tennis is the second most popular activity in 2000,” which makes the time reference and comparison difficult to follow. The overview is also embedded in a long paragraph rather than clearly separated from supporting details. Use clearer paragraphing and linking phrases, and organise the body by meaningful trends or groups. This would strengthen progression and make comparisons easier to understand.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuations,” “remained,” “climbed,” and “continued rising,” and these choices help communicate changes over time. There is some variety in how you describe movement, but several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “graph drop,” “it jumps to 60,” and “fall down.” “Most popular” is understandable, though “highest number of participants” is more precise for a graph. Capitalisation is inconsistent in “People,” and “amateur dramatic” is not the correct activity label. Aim for accurate collocations and consistent terminology, especially when describing rises, falls, and stable figures. More precise wording would improve clarity without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses linked with “but” and “despite,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to process. For example, “Overall Film club is the most popular activity with a slight fluctuations” has faulty agreement and punctuation, while “its starting with 64 people” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “After that table tennis…” also lacks clear grammatical structure, and “by reaching to 5 people” is not formed correctly. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. Building accurate shorter sentences first, then combining them selectively, would help you express comparisons more clearly.
