Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You provide a relevant overview, identifying that the film club remained the largest activity, table tennis rose substantially, and amateur dramatics declined. These are the chart’s main patterns, and you include figures for all five activities. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: film club participation was about 60 in 2010 and 66 in 2020, not 65 in 2010 and unchanged at that level; martial arts fluctuated rather than simply remaining steady; and musical performances began in 2010, not 2005. The account of amateur dramatics also misses its initial slight rise before the sustained fall. More precise reporting of these stages and comparisons would make the key features clearer and more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the activities. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and grouping film club and martial arts separately from the other activities is a reasonable approach. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the film-club sentence moves from 2010 to 2020 and then back to a decline in 2010, while the musical-performances sentence compresses several years into an unclear sequence. Linking words such as “while” and “then” are used, but relationships between figures are not always clear. Organise each series chronologically and use explicit time references to improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “decline,” “increase,” and “steady,” and the reader can generally identify the activities being discussed. However, the range and control of word choice are limited, with repeated use of “members” and “numbers” where more precise terms would help. Some expressions are unnatural or unclear, such as “showing 5 members extra,” “started showing their interets,” and “the worse decline.” There are also spelling errors, including “perfomances,” “numers,” and “Amaterur,” which reduce accuracy. Build a more varied set of trend verbs and use standard collocations such as “rose to,” “fell to,” and “remained relatively stable” to describe the data more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in tense, agreement, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “participants remains” should be “participants remained,” and “the amateur dramatics members shows” needs subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “During 2010” combines several time points in a confusing structure, while “from 2005 they started abruptly declining until remains” has an incorrect verb form and an incomplete construction. Capitalisation after the overview’s full stop is also inconsistent. Practise keeping each sentence focused on one trend, maintaining past tense for the historical data, and checking agreement and verb forms.
