Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall pattern: the film club remains the largest activity, while table tennis rises sharply and amateur dramatics declines. Several figures are also broadly accurate, including amateur dramatics falling from about 25 to 7 and table tennis reaching roughly 55. However, some details are misreported: the film club rises from about 64 to 66 rather than staying the same, martial arts fluctuates around 32–38 rather than remaining unchanged, and musical performances begin in 2010, not 2005. The overview also says table tennis increased “from last ten years,” although its strong rise begins after 2010. More precise comparisons and accurate start/end values would make the report more complete and clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph of supporting details. It also groups several activities together, which helps the reader follow the report. However, progression within the details is uneven: the account moves from film club to martial arts, then musical performances, amateur dramatics and table tennis without a clear organising principle. Some links are awkward or unclear, such as “Similarly” before the table-tennis trend, which does not show how that trend is similar to the preceding decline. Improve cohesion by grouping rising, falling and fluctuating activities, and use clearer transitions. Punctuation spacing after full stops also needs attention.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “increased drastically,” “significantly dropped” and “reached at the bottom.” These choices communicate the broad trends, though some are imprecise or unnatural for describing graph data. “Actors joined Film club” misidentifies participants, while “registered themselves” and “showed a great success” are not natural collocations in this context. There are also spelling errors in “catagories” and “fluctatued.” Aim for precise, neutral reporting language and accurate collocations, such as “participants,” “rose sharply,” and “declined to.” This would make the vocabulary more controlled and suitable for an academic summary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses linked with “while” and “then,” and the main trends are generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, however. The opening phrase needs a relative clause and article: “a social centre that is situated.” In “for past two decades,” the article is missing, and “stayed same” also needs an article. The sentence beginning “Musical performances started…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma, creating a comma splice. There are also tense and sentence-boundary issues in the descriptions of the figures. Practise accurate articles, complete clause structures and punctuation when combining related information.
