The line graph illustrates the data about five different activities, regarding people participation over two decades at a social center in Melbourne, city of Australia. The activities are: film club, martial arts, amateur dramatics, table tennis and musical performances.

Overall, an enormous number of folks contributed to the film club contrary to the musical performances, which were lowest among all.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You cover all five activities and give a clear overview by identifying the film club as the most popular and musical performances as initially the least attended. Most reported figures and trends are grounded in the graph: table tennis rises sharply after 2010 to about 54, amateur dramatics falls to around 6, and martial arts fluctuates around the mid-30s. However, the overview is not fully accurate for the whole period: musical performances are not the lowest by 2020, when amateur dramatics has fallen to about 6 while musical performances reach roughly 18. There is also a small timeline error in saying musical performances began increasing after 2005; they remain at zero until 2005 and rise by 2010. A more precise overview of the changing rankings would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a body that reports the activities in a generally understandable sequence. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Additionally,” and “Furthermore” help signal progression, and the reader can follow the main trends. However, the body moves between series using a long chain of connectors, so the organisation can feel mechanical rather than grouping related trends. Some references are also unclear, as in “it grew slightly” and “were 55 in the end,” where the subject or number being described is not consistently explicit. Grouping the declining and rising activities into clearer comparisons, and using fewer formulaic transitions, would make the progression more fluent and cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the graph, including “fluctuated,” “declined significantly,” and “dramatic rise.” These choices communicate the main patterns, and the activity names are reported accurately. However, several expressions are informal or imprecise for an academic summary: “folks,” “took a good start,” “contributed,” and “members count” do not fit naturally with describing participation figures. “Enormous number” also overstates the difference without adding precision. Prefer neutral, conventional collocations such as “participants,” “started at,” and “the number of members.” There is some variety in trend language, but more consistent and precise wording would improve the academic tone and reduce awkward phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning is generally clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “Furthermore, around 26 people participated in amateur dramatics at the start,” but there are several grammatical errors in longer constructions. For example, “the numbers increased gradually over the time and became around 11” has an unclear subject and awkward verb pattern, while “a dramatic rise is seen in participants after that and were 55” shifts structure and lacks agreement. The phrase “starting from 65 people from the start” also repeats the same idea and has an awkward construction. Work on maintaining a clear subject and consistent tense within each sentence, and check agreement and article use when describing figures.
