Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify several relevant series, including the film club, table tennis, amateur dramatics and musical performances, and you attempt an overall summary. However, the overview is unclear and some key trends are misreported: film-club participation stays broadly stable around 60–66 rather than simply showing an increase, while table tennis rises substantially but not every year. The claim that amateur dramatics fell by five participants each year is inaccurate, and the musical-performance figures are also incorrect: participation begins at zero in 2000 and reaches about 18 by 2020. Martial arts is mentioned without a clear account of its fluctuations. The response is 138 words, below the 150-word minimum. Select the main trends accurately and support them with a few reliable comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an opening overview followed by details and a final paragraph beginning with “However.” This gives the reader some sense of grouping. However, progression between ideas is difficult to follow: the second paragraph combines film club, martial arts and table tennis, then returns to film club, while the final paragraph shifts between amateur dramatics and musical performances. Linking phrases such as “As well” and “However” do not always show the relationship between the information clearly, and references such as “its” are unclear. Organise the body by contrasting the stable or fluctuating activities with those that changed markedly, and use clear time-based comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “line chart,” “increase” and “drop,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is basic and several inaccurate or awkward expressions make the data difficult to interpret. For example, “slightly dramaticalty” does not convey a clear trend, “huge stable” is not a natural description, and “input 5” is unsuitable for describing participant numbers. There are also spelling errors such as “ilustrates” and “perfomance,” alongside repeated use of “participants” and “years.” Build a more precise set of trend terms—such as remain stable, fluctuate, rise sharply and decline—and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt simple statements and some longer sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between figures unclear. Examples include “between 2000 to 2020,” where the time expression is not formed correctly, “film club is showing increase,” which lacks a correctly formed verb phrase, and “the table tennis are climb,” which has problems with both agreement and verb form. The sentence “each of the years 5 of the participants are fell down” is especially difficult to understand because its word order and verb construction are faulty. Most sentences follow similar simple patterns, with little accurate complex structure. Practise past-tense reporting, subject–verb agreement, articles and comparative sentence patterns, then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly formed clause.
