Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main series and attempt an overview, noting that the film club remained highest and table tennis rose substantially. These are relevant features, but the overview contains important inaccuracies: amateur dramatics did not rise sharply; it declined, while musical performances increased from zero. Several figures and dates are also misreported. For example, film-club participation was about 60 in 2010, not 57, and amateur dramatics fell to about 14 in 2015 and 6 in 2020, rather than 9 in 2010 and zero in 2020. The account of musical performances also confuses the years and values. Select the clearest overall trends, then check each figure and date against the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the figures. This gives the reader some organisation, and comparisons between activities are attempted. However, progression is weakened by unclear or inaccurate links, such as “Whenever the ratio” and “but then changed to 2015,” which make the sequence difficult to follow. The final paragraph combines three activities and shifts between years without consistently signalling the timeline. Some connectors, including “Moreover” and “In contrast,” do not clearly express the relationship between the ideas that follow. Group related trends into clearer paragraphs and use straightforward time markers such as “By 2010” and “Thereafter” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “remained stable,” “dramatic rise,” and “most significant change,” and you attempt to describe trends rather than simply list figures. However, the range and control are limited by frequent spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions. Examples include “diffrent,” “shraply,” “Amature,” and “Musica,” as well as phrases such as “top up,” “peaked up,” and “slightly from nothing.” These choices sometimes make the intended trend unclear. Use accurate, conventional graph language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe a series as “increased gradually” or “fell steadily,” and use “participants” consistently rather than “ratio” when referring to numbers.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to understand. The opening has subject–verb disagreement and faulty phrasing: “The line graph compare” and “between 2000 to 2020.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “Overall, Film club remained by far the peak level Throughout the highest level of participants, and then the Martial arts, Relatively stable.” Articles, prepositions, and verb forms are often missing or incorrectly used, and some clauses are incomplete. Practise building clear sentences with a subject and verb, for example, “The number of film-club participants fell slightly to 60 in 2010, before rising to 66 in 2020.” Then proofread for agreement, tense, and punctuation.
