Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the film club as the most popular activity and note that musical performances began at zero, giving the response a relevant overview. You also include several figures, such as about 65 for the film club and around 20 for both amateur dramatics and table tennis in 2010. However, some key trends are misreported: amateur dramatics fell after 2005, rather than rising, and table tennis climbed sharply to about 54 by 2020, rather than falling. The account also says martial arts went down over the final decade, although it fluctuated and ended near its starting level. Select the main overall changes accurately, then support them with comparisons across the full period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing groups of activities. Sequencing phrases such as “Initially,” “After that,” and “Regarding the other activities” help the reader follow the timeline. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, and the final comparison is difficult to interpret because the trends are described inaccurately. For example, “then amateur dramatics members are dramatically jumpped, while table tennis the number of participants are fell” does not clearly connect the two series. Use a consistent pattern for each activity—starting figure, main change, and ending figure—and make pronoun references and comparisons explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “slightly decreased,” “in contrast,” “significantly rose,” and “dramatically,” showing an attempt to describe changes rather than merely list figures. However, several spelling errors and repeated wording reduce precision: “perticipents” appears throughout, and “flim” is used for “film.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “number of total participants” and “members are dramatically jumpped.” Choose accurate terms for the data and vary “participants” with suitable alternatives such as “figures” or “numbers,” where appropriate. Check spelling carefully and use verbs such as “rose,” “fell,” and “remained stable” in their correct forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts with “while” and “in contrast,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, tense, and punctuation occur in several places. For example, “both activities participants was same” needs a plural subject and a clearer construction, while “the number of participants are fell” combines incompatible verb forms. The opening overview also needs an article and clearer sentence boundaries: “Overall, the maximum number…” and a space after the full stop. Practise forming complete comparisons and maintaining past tense when reporting the historical data; this will make your varied sentence attempts more accurate.
