Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response identifies the main patterns accurately: film club remained the largest activity, table tennis rose sharply to become second, amateur dramatics fell, and musical performances grew. The overview is clear and the selected figures generally support it, including the film club’s rise to about 66 and amateur dramatics’ fall to around 5–6. However, some details are over-generalised or imprecise. Table tennis began rising notably after 2010, rather than simply “from the year 2010,” and musical performances began in 2010, not 2005; the figure was about 18 in 2020 rather than 15. Martial arts also fluctuated rather than staying the same. More precise reporting of these changes would make the account more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. The overview groups the main trends effectively, and sequencing from the early figures to later changes is generally understandable. However, some sentences combine several activities and comparisons, making the progression less smooth; for example, the sentence beginning “In the early years” moves from film club to martial arts without a clear break. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” do not always signal the relationship between the information that follows. Use one main comparison per sentence, and organise the detail paragraphs consistently by contrasting rising and falling activities or by reporting each series in turn.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

There is an adequate range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “fluctuations,” “significant rise,” “declined considerably,” and “gradual increase.” These choices help communicate the main patterns, though some wording is imprecise or does not collocate naturally. For instance, “the film club account for” and “the table tennis make up for” are awkward ways to describe participant numbers, while “second largest community” is less suitable than a direct reference to the activity’s ranking. “Starting registration” is also unclear in this context. Spelling errors such as “Austrailia” reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling, especially in the introduction and overview.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response attempts a mix of simple and more complex structures, including clauses with “which” and participial phrases such as “followed by a significant declined.” Meaning is usually recoverable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction remain. Examples include “the film club account” instead of “the film club accounted,” “the table tennis make up,” and “a significant declined.” The opening sentence also uses the awkward construction “between the period of 2000 to 2020.” Several long sentences join separate observations with commas, as in the early-years paragraph, which weakens grammatical control. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and divide complex comparisons into complete sentences.
