Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall pattern: the film club remains the most popular activity, while amateur dramatics declines to the lowest level by 2020. You also cover all five activities and report several relevant trends, including the sharp rise in table tennis. However, some details are inaccurate: musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and reached about 18 participants, rather than 25. Table tennis rose notably from 2010, but describing the increase as occurring “from the year 2010” would be clearer if you gave its earlier and later figures. The overview is relevant, though the comparison of the activities’ changing positions and the musical performances trend could be more fully and accurately developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to details, and the reader can follow the main comparisons. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships between points. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, and the final paragraph groups several series together without a clear order or consistent comparison. The overview’s “Secondly” is not a natural way to introduce the second main feature, and the transition to musical performances is abrupt. Organise the details into clearer groups—for example, activities that remained relatively stable and those that changed substantially—and use referencing and linking phrases more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “declined,” “spiked,” and “consistent,” which helps describe trends. Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, however: “data of members” is less suitable than language referring to participant numbers, and “least preferred” describes preference rather than the number shown. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “activites,” “illsutrates,” “tweenty,” and “daramtics,” which reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for precise collocations and check spelling carefully. The meaning is generally recoverable, but more accurate word choice and control would make the report sound more natural and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more developed sentences, and most of the trends remain understandable. Some grammatical errors are present, particularly with verb forms and sentence boundaries. For example, “film club remain” should use a past-tense form to match the period being described, and “Martial arts member fluctuated” needs a plural subject such as “the number of martial arts participants.” The sentence beginning “Moreover, The number” also has an unnecessary capital after the comma, while “twenty years.Secondly” needs a space after the full stop. Use past-tense verbs consistently for this completed period, check subject–verb agreement, and proofread punctuation.
