Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important features, including film club’s continued popularity, the sharp rise in table tennis, and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the overview and supporting details are only partly accurate: film club starts at about 64 participants, not almost 75, and table tennis reaches about 54, rather than 58. Musical performances began to rise after 2005, not from 2005, and martial arts fluctuated around the mid-30s rather than remaining unchanged. The response also omits useful comparisons across the period, such as table tennis overtaking martial arts by 2015. It is 146 words, below the required 150. Include a clearer overview and select accurate figures to support the main trends.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable overall-to-detail structure: it begins with an overview and then comments on individual activities. Linking words such as “Overall,” “Although,” and “However” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the information is presented as one continuous paragraph, and the sequence jumps between activities without a clear organising principle. Some links are also confusing: “However musical performances had slight progress rather then tennis” does not clearly explain the comparison, while “Although” introduces a clause without a complete contrasting structure. Group the overview separately, then compare rising, falling, and relatively stable activities in a logical order. Clearer sentence boundaries and more precise referencing would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “peak,” “decline” (attempted as “decrise”), and “progress,” and you try to describe changes rather than simply list figures. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “the lowest part had table tennis,” “sharp grew,” and “remains popularity.” Spelling errors—including “grahp,” “significantly,” “pupular,” and “musucal”—are noticeable and sometimes slow the reader. Choose standard trend language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a line as “the number of participants rose sharply” rather than saying it “got sharp grew,” and use “remained popular” for a stable level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “Although” and a comparison introduced by “However.” Nevertheless, errors are frequent, and some sentence structures make relationships difficult to understand. Examples include “from 2000 years majority almost 75 participants were from film club,” “it started grew,” and “Although Amateur dramatics decrise a mount of participants.” Tense and verb-form control are inconsistent, and articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries are often missing or inaccurate. Use the past simple consistently to report the chart, and build complete clauses—for example, “The number of amateur dramatics participants declined after 2005.” Proofread each sentence for a subject, a correctly formed verb, and clear punctuation.
