Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify two important overall features: film club remains the most popular activity, and table tennis rises substantially. However, the report covers the data only partially, and some details are inaccurate or unfinished. Film club fluctuates slightly rather than staying at about 65 throughout, while martial arts also varies between roughly 32 and 38. Musical performances begin at zero and rise to about 18, not a peak of 20. The final paragraph breaks off after “it was gradu…”, leaving the amateur-dramatics trend and the strong table-tennis increase without a complete account. To improve, report the main changes across all five activities accurately and complete the comparison of their starting and ending figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and detail paragraphs, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Looking into the details” signal the intended structure. However, progression is difficult to follow because the details are grouped inconsistently: film club and martial arts are discussed together, musical performances are added in the same paragraph, and amateur dramatics is introduced only in a final, incomplete paragraph. The repeated “Looking into the details” and “Delelving into the details” also make the linking mechanical. Use one paragraph for the overview, then group the detailed comparisons logically—for example, stable or fluctuating activities together and the sharply rising or falling activities together—and ensure each paragraph develops a complete point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “line chart,” “mild fluctuation,” “significantly increased,” and “terminal year,” so the reader can recognise the intended comparisons. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the text harder to understand: “highst,” “table tannis,” “flim club,” “Forthermore,” and “Delelving” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “people interested in film club” and “accounted at about 15.” Aim for accurate activity names and natural collocations for describing figures and trends. A wider set of precise verbs—such as “stood at,” “declined,” and “climbed”—would help you report changes more clearly without relying on repeated “number of people” phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview clause “whereas the figure for table tannis significantly increased” and a sentence beginning “after a decade.” However, grammatical errors are frequent, and some sentences are incomplete or difficult to interpret. For example, “the number of people participated” needs a relative clause or participle construction, while “no one interested in musical performances from 2000 to 2005 than…” lacks a clear grammatical connection between the time period and the later increase. The final sentence also stops mid-clause. Practise complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check tense and clause structure when comparing years. This will make your trend descriptions easier to follow.
