Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You provide a relevant overview by identifying the film club as the largest activity and noting the strong rise in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. Several figures are also broadly accurate: film club begins at about 63, martial arts at around 37, and amateur dramatics ends near 7. However, some key details are unclear or inaccurate. Table tennis did not stay at about 18 until 2010: it rose to 20 by 2005 and remained there in 2010 before climbing. Musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and increased to about 18; the claim that they attracted “very only members” does not report this trend clearly. The overview also calls both musical performances and amateur dramatics the lowest, although their positions change over time. Select and report these developments more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the figures. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and contrast markers such as “However” and “Meanwhile” help connect some points. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven. The overview combines rankings and trends without clarifying how they change over the period, while the final paragraph groups the two lowest activities but does not clearly distinguish their different starting points and trajectories. Some linking is also mechanical or unclear, particularly “The lowest trend followed by…” and “Meanwhile, total members…”. Organise the body around clearer comparisons—for example, the consistently high film-club figures and rising table-tennis line, followed by the contrasting trends in the other activities—and use references that make each comparison explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuating,” “increase,” and “decline,” so the main trends can generally be understood. However, the range and control of vocabulary are limited, with several inaccurate or unnatural choices that make parts difficult to interpret. “Remain persistent” does not naturally describe a line that changes slightly, and “spontaneous increase” is not the right collocation for a gradual rise. Phrases such as “members range above 50” and “attract very only members” are unclear. There are also spelling errors, including “matial,” “fluctuancey,” “continuos,” and “mebers.” Aim for precise trend language and check spelling and word forms; for example, describe figures as remaining relatively stable, rising sharply, or reaching a particular level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “While martial arts members showed…” and “The musical performance activity members start participating…”. However, errors in sentence construction, tense, agreement, and punctuation are frequent enough to make some statements hard to follow. For example, “participants of film club remain highest” needs a clearer subject and consistent past-tense reporting, while “the table tennis contained only 18 participants” uses an unsuitable grammatical construction. The sentence beginning “The lowest trend followed by…” is incomplete, and “started decline showed continuos decline” lacks a clear grammatical relationship between its verbs. Use past tense consistently for the historical data, build complete clauses, and check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries. More accurate simple sentences would improve clarity before you add complex structures.
