Student answer (Band 5.0)
number of participants throughout the years of 2000 to 2020 does have great change as we can see the film club industry has been going on the same way from 200s till 2020 but with slight changes it decrease but then increased even more whereas amateur dramstics were least common in 2000s nearly 25 30% participants but upcomings to 2020 they decreased to almost 0 bcz of cultural changes technology movies and shows online are getting more fame rather than amateur dramatics musical performances havent even been a thing in 2000s but with growing population of celebrities and performers more and more singers started coming on stage and now 2020 the singers rate increased up to 20% from 0.
Focusing on sports and games table tennis was played 15% in the world throughout the 2000s this one has a major change the tennis player population grew up to 55% than before in early 2000s people seem to be taking more interest in table tennis which was such less of a sport in early 2000s. Taking a look at martial arts mostly common in Asian side of the world still had more than enough 37% of participants in early 2000s but it showed a little interest from some people in 2010 then got decreased again in 2010 till 2020 its rate came back to 35%

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important patterns: film-club participation stays high, amateur dramatics declines, musical performances rise from zero, and table tennis grows substantially. However, the response only partially fulfils the task because it lacks a clear, concise overview of the main comparisons and includes explanations not shown by the graph, such as changes caused by online entertainment, celebrities, or cultural shifts. Some figures are also misrepresented: the chart gives participant numbers, not percentages, and table tennis rises from about 16 to 54, rather than being played by 15% and 55% of people worldwide. Martial arts fluctuates around the mid-30s, but the description of its changes is unclear. Focus on accurate chart-based comparisons and avoid unsupported causes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it first discusses several activities and then shifts to sports, using phrases such as “Focusing on sports and games” and “Taking a look at martial arts.” This gives the reader a basic sense of grouping. However, there is no clear overall progression from an overview to selected details, and several ideas run together in long sentences. The first paragraph moves between film, amateur dramatics, and musical performances without clear separation; the second repeats the table-tennis trend before moving to martial arts. Use a brief overview paragraph, then organise details into logical groups, with clear sentence boundaries and more precise links between comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “decreased,” “increased,” “slight changes,” and “major change,” so the general topic is understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal for an academic chart summary. “Film club industry” and “tennis player population” do not describe the graph’s participant figures naturally, while “rate” and “percentage” are used where the chart reports numbers. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “dramstics,” “havent,” and “bcz,” and phrases such as “showed a little interest from some people” are unclear. Choose precise terms such as “participant numbers” and “remained relatively stable,” and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect several ideas using clauses and contrast, for example, “it decrease but then increased even more,” and “but with growing population…,” showing some effort to produce more than short simple sentences. However, the structures are often faulty, and frequent errors make parts difficult to follow. Examples include “does have great change,” “it decrease,” “amateur dramatics were least common,” and “its rate came back,” where tense, agreement, or sentence construction is not controlled. Punctuation is also weak: long strings of ideas lack full stops and clear clause boundaries. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences in the past tense, and check subject–verb agreement and punctuation before combining clauses.
