Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall pattern: the film club remained the largest activity, while amateur dramatics declined substantially. You also cover all five activities and include several relevant figures, such as table tennis rising to about 54 and amateur dramatics falling to about 6 by 2020. However, the overview says all groups except amateur dramatics increased, which does not accurately describe martial arts, whose figures fluctuated around the mid-30s, or the film club, which dipped before rising. Some details are also imprecise: musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and table tennis equalled amateur dramatics in 2005, rather than 2010. A more accurate overview and clearer comparisons would make the key features more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the activities. Sequencing expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “At the end” help signal movement between points, and the reader can generally follow the account. However, the final paragraph groups several series together, making comparisons harder to track, while some links are mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely. For example, “Also” introduces table tennis without clearly connecting it to the preceding decline in amateur dramatics. Organise the details into more deliberate comparisons—such as the two declining or fluctuating series, followed by the rising series—and use clearer references to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “participants,” “downward and upward trend,” “decline,” and “lowest position.” These choices make the general meaning understandable and show attempts to describe change rather than simply list figures. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “represented the both downward and upward trend,” “it was share the equal number,” and “showed slightly climed.” There are also spelling errors such as “matrial,” “dramtically,” and “respresent,” which reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language and check spelling carefully; accurate phrases such as “fluctuated,” “rose steadily,” and “fell sharply” would help you describe the trends more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “however” and “but,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Some sentence patterns are controlled, such as “the amateur dramatics group had 25 members in 2000.” However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur in several places. For example, “it show decrease” needs a past-tense verb and a grammatical noun phrase, while “the musical performances group was started” uses an unsuitable passive construction. “The matrial arts was stood” also has an incorrect verb pattern. Practise describing past data with consistent past-tense forms and check subject–verb agreement and article use. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
