Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main categories and some important patterns, especially the film club’s consistently high participation, the rise in table tennis, and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the overview is unclear: saying the other activities “have vary” does not summarise their distinct trends, and the response omits the film club’s slight recovery and the broadly fluctuating martial-arts figures. Several values are inaccurate: martial arts and amateur dramatics began at about 36 and 26, not 45 and 35; musical performances began in 2000, not 2005; and table tennis rose to about 54, rather than 51. To strengthen the report, give a clear overview and select accurate start and end figures to support the key comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about different years, and time markers such as “In 2000” and “In 2010” help orient the reader. However, progression is uneven because the second and third paragraphs mix several activities without a consistent comparison or clear grouping. Some linking words are used mechanically or create confusing relationships: “Whereas” begins fragments, while “However” introduces the table-tennis trend without a clear contrast. The overview also combines several ideas in one sentence, making the main message difficult to follow. Organise the details into clearer groups—for example, stable/fluctuating activities and rising/falling activities—and use complete sentences with links that show the intended relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuation,” “dramatic rise,” and “gradually increased,” so the reader can recognise the subject and broad trends. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling problems make the report less precise. Examples include “higher steady number,” “increase and decrease number,” “highest record,” and “jumped up,” while misspellings such as “garph,” “activites,” and “flim” are noticeable. Some expressions are also unclear, such as “started with lowest participants … from strach.” Build a more accurate set of trend phrases and check spelling; prefer concise descriptions such as “remained relatively stable,” “peaked at,” and “fell to.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “whereas,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence patterns are faulty. For example, “the number … were” has subject–verb disagreement, “have vary” uses an incorrect verb form, and “individuals attended by 45” is missing a grammatical construction. “Whereas in martial arts and amateur dramatics…” is a fragment, and “a decreased in number” does not form a correct clause. Articles, plurals, and tense choices also need attention. Practise writing complete comparison sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, such as “Participation in martial arts fluctuated around the mid-30s.”
