Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant overall patterns, including the film club’s high participation, the decline in amateur dramatics, and growth in musical performances. However, key details are inaccurate or unclear: table tennis rose sharply mainly after 2010, reaching about 54 in 2020, not around 55 in 2010; its increase from 2005 to 2020 was about 20 to 54, not 19 to 52. The claim that martial arts participants “surpass over the years” does not describe the series, which fluctuates around the mid-30s. The overview also says the other centres generally rise and fall, rather than clearly identifying the major contrasts. The response is one word below the required minimum. Include a more accurate overview and select a few correctly reported comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the graph, describes several activities, and ends with a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Secondly,” “However,” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to connect points. However, the progression is not consistently logical: the conclusion repeats earlier claims and introduces another table-tennis figure, while the activity descriptions are compressed into one paragraph without a clear grouping of trends. Some transitions also imply contrasts that are not fully explained. Organise the report into a short introduction, an overview of the main trends, and detail paragraphs that group the more stable series separately from the sharply changing ones. This would make the relationships between the figures easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “rise sharply,” “fall dramatically,” and “surge,” which helps convey changes over time. The range is nevertheless limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “reach at peak,” “great performance,” and “surge amount.” There are also noticeable spelling errors in “vistor’s,” “Melbourine,” and “tenis,” which reduce the accuracy of the report. Use precise terms for participation and trends, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a series as reaching a peak or remaining relatively stable, rather than saying it had a great performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the main meaning is generally recoverable. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. Examples include “the film club reach at peak,” “Table tenis rise sharply,” and “Amateur dramatics fall dramatically,” where past-tense forms are needed for the period shown. The phrase “the martial arts participant’s count surpass” also has problems with agreement and sentence construction. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, as in “but the table tenis.” Practise forming accurate past-tense descriptions and checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb. Shorter, controlled sentences would help reduce errors while you build more varied structures.
