Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main patterns accurately: film club stays the most popular, table tennis rises sharply to become second, and amateur dramatics declines to the lowest level. The overview also notes the relative stability of martial arts and the growth in musical performances, so the response covers the key features and makes relevant comparisons. Several figures, however, are imprecise or inaccurate: film club is reported as rising from about 62 to 68, rather than approximately 64 to 66, and amateur dramatics ends at about 2–3 rather than around 6. The claim that musical performances were added in 2005 is also incorrect; participation first appears in 2010. This is a strong account of the main trends, but more precise reporting and a clearer distinction between the series’ starting points would strengthen it further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the data. The main trends are grouped sensibly, and phrases such as “Looking at the line graph” and “In addition to this” help signal movement between points. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward, and the overview repeats information that is then restated in the detail paragraphs. The opening sentence is also separated by a full stop from “Between the time period 2000 to 2020,” leaving a fragment, while “Whereas” introduces another incomplete sentence. Improve progression by combining related points, using fewer formulaic transitions, and ensuring each paragraph has a distinct purpose: overview first, then accurate supporting comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “leading activity,” “relatively steady,” “steep decline,” and “most significant change.” These choices communicate the broad trends, and the meaning is generally clear. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “the final quantity,” “members taking part,” and “the activity experienced a continuous rising trend” are less precise than standard descriptions of participant numbers. There are also spelling errors, including “activites,” “Melbourine,” “graoh,” “Morever,” and “contniuous,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for concise, conventional chart language such as “participant numbers,” “remained stable,” and “rose steadily,” and proofread spelling carefully. This would make the vocabulary more precise and natural without requiring more elaborate wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “as,” “whereas,” and “however,” and most of the intended meaning can be followed. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence boundaries, agreement, and verb forms. For example, “Between the time period 2000 to 2020” is a fragment, and “people has lost interest” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. “Musical performance participants raise” should use a past-tense form, while “it goes on and became” mixes verb forms. Punctuation also needs attention: the opening has a misplaced full stop, and the sentence beginning “Making the activity…” is an incomplete continuation. Practise forming complete sentences and maintaining consistent past-tense reporting; these changes would improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at complex structures.
