Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important patterns, especially table tennis’s sharp rise after 2010 and the decline in amateur dramatics, and you give approximate figures for some activities. However, the report is only a partial summary: it has no clear, complete overview of the main comparisons, and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, amateur dramatics rises slightly from 26 to 28 between 2000 and 2005, rather than reaching “30,” and musical performances increase gradually to about 18, not rapidly to 15. The film club remains around 60–66, while martial arts fluctuates around the mid-30s. The response is also 15 words below the required minimum, limiting the detail you can provide. Include a concise overview and report the key start-to-end changes more accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation: the opening identifies the chart, and the following paragraphs group film club and martial arts together before discussing other activities. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The second paragraph gives an overview, but the later paragraph repeats the table-tennis trend and returns to amateur dramatics without a clear grouping. Linking words such as “similarly,” “but,” and “after” help show basic relationships, yet connections between sentences are sometimes abrupt, and the final sentence is incomplete. Use a clearer structure—introduction, overview, then two paragraphs comparing related trends—and make each sentence’s subject explicit. This would give the reader a more logical route through the information.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “increase,” “falls significantly,” “fluctuated,” and “participants,” so the main trends are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which makes parts of the report less clear. “Intrest” is repeatedly misspelled, “Material Arts” is not the chart label (martial arts), and “its interest increase rapidly” is an awkward way to describe participant numbers. “Reaches at the almost 15” is also unclear. Aim for precise, natural collocations such as “the number of participants rose” and “reached approximately 18.” Check spelling and use the activity names exactly as shown in the graph.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates basic comparisons through simple sentences and some clauses with “but” and “after,” but the range of sentence structures is limited. Frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries make the writing difficult to follow in places. For example, “The line graph illustate” needs a correctly formed verb, and “fluctuted over the time but remain” has inconsistent tense and agreement. The phrase “the number of participants slightly rises … but then starts decreasing” also shifts tense, while the final sentence lacks a complete grammatical ending. Use the past tense consistently for the period shown, check subject–verb agreement, and punctuate complete sentences carefully.
