Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several important patterns, including film club’s leading position, the growth in table tennis and musical performances, and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the report is incomplete and only partially covers the graph: the table-tennis discussion stops mid-sentence, and musical performances are not described beyond the overview. Some figures are also inaccurate or unclear: film-club participation rises to about 66 in 2020, not “almost 6-”; amateur dramatics falls to about 6, rather than reaching a peak of “almost 5”; and martial arts begins and ends at about 36, not 38. The response is also 33 words below the required minimum. Include a complete account of the main trends and accurate comparisons to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph with selected figures. The overview also groups the activities by their general trends, which helps the reader follow your main points. However, progression is weakened because the final paragraph ends abruptly at “while a sharp,” leaving the table-tennis trend unfinished and the musical-performances data without supporting detail. Connections between ideas are limited, and the shift from film club to martial arts and amateur dramatics is not always clearly signposted. Use complete, logically grouped paragraphs and linking phrases such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile” to show how the series relate. A concluding sentence is not essential, but every comparison you begin should be completed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “fluctuated,” “grow dramatically,” and “sharp decline,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “prominant,” “tabble tennis,” “amature,” and “experienxed” are misspelled, while “dipping to its peak” does not clearly describe a decline. “Grow” is also less suitable than “grew” in this past-period report. Aim for accurate trend language and check spelling carefully. Phrases such as “fell steadily,” “rose substantially,” and “reached a low of” would help you describe the data more precisely without relying on repeated general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the opening sentence communicates the chart’s subject and period. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly in verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries. For example, “film club had 64 member which reduce to 60” needs a plural noun and past-tense verbs, while “then grow” should also be in the past tense. The overview begins several sentences with lowercase “film club,” and the fragment “while a sharp” is incomplete. Some sentence patterns are attempted, but errors and unfinished structures can make details difficult to interpret. Practise writing complete past-tense sentences, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and proofreading punctuation before finishing.
