Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main broad patterns: film-club participation remains highest, table tennis rises substantially, amateur dramatics declines, and martial arts fluctuates. Several figures are also close to the chart, such as film club at about 65–67 and table tennis ending near 53. However, the report is only partially complete: the final sentence about amateur dramatics stops at “finish,” so its steep decline to around 6 is not reported. The musical-performances account also says the activity “start[s] in 2005,” whereas the chart shows no participants until 2010. To make the key features clearer and more fully supported, complete the comparison of all five activities and accurately identify when musical performances begin.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs containing details. The overview usefully groups the rising activities, the declining activity and the fluctuating series. However, progression becomes difficult to follow in the detail section: the account moves from film club to table tennis, musical performances, martial arts and then back to amateur dramatics, whose sentence is unfinished. Linking phrases such as “However” and “On the other hand” are repeated or do not always signal a clear contrast. Organise the details into clearer groups—for example, stable or fluctuating series versus strong rises and falls—and use transitions that accurately show how the figures relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “increase,” “decrease” and “fluctuated,” so the reader can identify the general trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the report harder to understand, such as “number of participants activity,” “it was grow rapidly,” and “highest poarticapite.” There are also frequent spelling errors, including “flim,” “drematics,” “noticable” and “perfomance.” These reduce precision in a task where accurate descriptions of trends are important. Build a reliable set of collocations such as “the number of participants,” “rose sharply,” and “remained the most popular,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “While” and a comparison beginning “On the other hand.” However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “The line graph illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “between 2000 to 2020” uses an incorrect preposition pattern. The sentence beginning “Overall, it can be seen that…” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “in 2000 Film club start… at the end… it was…” shifts awkwardly between tenses. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentences, then check agreement, articles and prepositions in each sentence.
