The line graph illustrates the number participants for activities including film club, martial arts, amateur dramatics, table tennis, musical performances at one social centr in Melbourne, Australia between 2000 and 2020.

Overall, the number of performers increased significantly in most of the activies throughout the given period. Film club experienced the most popular activity.Followed by martical arts ranked second. Meamwhile table tennis showed steady growth, while a dramatic decline was seen in amateur dramatic among the five activites. Although, the figure of musical performance rose modestly with lowest participants towards the end of the period.

In 2000, the figure of participants in film club was almost 60, and martial art was lessthan 40 member, which were expected to remain identical or little change to 70 member and 40 people in 2020. Likewise, Table tennis stood at approximately 20 peoples in initial year, and was estimated to climb to 60 member in 2020.

By contrast, amateur dramatics was less than 30 members in 2000, before peaking at 30 members in 2005, was predicting to decline approximately 10 members in 2020.However, there was no participant in music performance till 2005.This activity accounted for only 10 members in 2010.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the five activities and provide an overview that recognises film club as the most popular, table tennis as rising, and amateur dramatics as declining. These are relevant main features. However, some key details are inaccurate or unclear: film club ends at about 66, not 70; table tennis rises to about 54, rather than 60; and amateur dramatics peaks at about 28 in 2005, not 30. The overview also says most activities increased, although martial arts fluctuated around the mid-30s and amateur dramatics fell. Musical performances reach about 18 by 2020, but this endpoint is omitted. To strengthen the report, describe the main trends accurately and compare the final figures as well as the starting points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. The contrast between declining amateur dramatics and the introduction of musical performances is also signalled with linking expressions. However, progression is not always clear because several trends are grouped together without a consistent time sequence, and some connections are awkward or contradictory. For example, “expected to remain identical or little change” is difficult to follow, while “Although” begins a sentence without a matching main clause. The overview’s claim that most activities increased also sits uneasily beside the later description of martial arts. Organise the details by clear comparisons—such as the consistently high film-club figures, the sharp table-tennis rise, and the declining or fluctuating activities—and use transitions to show those relationships precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “decline,” “peaking,” and “modestly,” and you attempt to describe change rather than simply list figures. However, the range and control are limited by repeated or inaccurate expressions. “Number of performers” does not accurately describe the graph’s participants, and phrases such as “martial art was less than 40 member” and “20 peoples” are not natural collocations. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “centr,” “activies,” “martical,” and “Meamwhile,” which reduce the polish of the report. Choose precise chart language and check spelling and word forms. For example, use “participant numbers” consistently and describe values as rising, falling, or remaining broadly stable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and more complex clauses, as in “before peaking at 30 members in 2005,” but complex constructions are often faulty and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include the missing article in “the number participants,” the incomplete construction “which were expected to remain identical or little change,” and the tense error in “was predicting to decline.” Subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries also need attention: “Film club experienced the most popular activity.Followed by…” is not a complete, correctly punctuated sentence, and “Although” is used without a completed contrast. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate past-tense verbs, articles, and plural nouns. A clear pattern such as “Film-club participation stood at about 64 in 2000 and rose slightly to 66 by 2020” would improve control.
