Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify all five activities and report several important patterns: film-club attendance stays high, amateur dramatics declines, and table tennis rises sharply. The approximate figures of 15 and 55 for table tennis are consistent with the chart. However, the overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate comparison: film club and martial arts do not have the same number of participants; film club remains around 60–66, while martial arts fluctuates around 32–38. Musical performances began in 2010, not 2005. The response also contains 146 words, below the required 150, and some trends are only briefly described. Add a clear overview and accurately compare the main changes to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the graph, describes several activities, and ends with a summary. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “in summary” signal a conclusion. However, the progression is not consistently clear because the overview and details are mixed together, and the final summary repeats earlier points without resolving the inaccurate claim that film club and martial arts have the same participation. Linking is also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “we can see,” while punctuation and spacing around commas make some transitions harder to follow. Grouping the stable activities together and the rising or falling activities together, with a distinct overview paragraph, would make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “decreased,” “increased,” “participants,” and “popularity,” so the main message is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “the table tennis the popularity is highly increased significantly” and “loss most participants.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “ameture,” “tenneis,” and “dramaties,” which reduce accuracy and polish. Use standard trend collocations and avoid repeating general words such as “thing” and “some.” More precise choices such as “attendance,” “fluctuated,” and “declined steadily” would help you describe the data clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate mainly through simple sentences, with a few attempts to connect ideas using “and” and “which.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and frequent errors affect clarity. For example, “the number … was the highest and it remained almost same” needs an article before “almost the same,” while “the population is decreased over time” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence about table tennis lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “the amateur dramaties loss most participants” has an incorrect verb form. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including lowercase sentence openings and missing spaces after commas. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and build clear sentences around subject, verb, and comparison.
