Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the five activities and cover the full period, and your overview correctly highlights the film club’s consistently high participation and the comparatively low figures for musical performances and amateur dramatics. Several key trends are also recognised, including the decline in amateur dramatics and the rise in table tennis. However, some figures and details are inaccurate: table tennis reaches about 54 in 2020, not 60; musical performances begin in 2010, not 2005, and rise to about 18, rather than 12, by 2020. The film club ends slightly above its starting level, not at the same number. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of martial arts would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an overall structure, with an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs describing data, so the reader can identify the main sections. You also use linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “Moreover” and “Additionally.” However, progression within the detail paragraphs is not always clear: the discussion moves between activities and years without a consistent pattern, and some links are inaccurate or difficult to follow, as in “it seem contrast then amateur dramatics people.” Paragraphing would be more effective if related trends were grouped together—for example, the two rising activities in one section and the declining or fluctuating series in another. Use fewer, more precise connectors and make references such as “they” clearly identify the activity or participants.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “dramatically decrease,” “surge” and “reached,” which helps communicate changes over time. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “people were very fascinating in film club” does not express that participation was high; “fascinating” describes something that interests people. Phrases such as “connected with amateur dramatics” and “individual start to joined” are also unnatural. Aim for precise chart language such as “participation,” “stood at,” “increased steadily” and “fell sharply.” Check word forms and spelling, and avoid repeating “people” and “number of participants” when a more concise expression is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including comparisons introduced by “Whereas” and “Moreover.” However, errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. For example, “they steady fall in 2010” needs a correctly formed verb, while “film club member were maximum” has agreement and sentence-structure problems. The final sentence, “Additionally individual start to joined … and at 12 number of participant in 2020,” is incomplete and contains several grammatical errors. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent past-tense forms for the historical data. Check punctuation and capitalisation, especially at sentence boundaries.
