Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main patterns accurately: the film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises sharply, amateur dramatics declines, martial arts fluctuates, and musical performances grow after 2005. The broad figures are also generally consistent with the chart. However, some comparisons are unclear or inaccurate: amateur dramatics was not more popular than table tennis after 2005, and table tennis’s strongest rise occurs from 2010 to 2020 rather than simply “especially in 2010.” The response also lacks a clearly separated, concise overview and gives limited detail about the stages of change. To strengthen it, state the key overall contrasts first, then support them with selected figures and precise comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response groups several activities together and uses basic linking phrases such as “After that” and “At the same time,” so the reader can follow the general topic. However, the information is presented as one long paragraph, with no clear separation between an overview and supporting details. Some transitions are difficult to follow, particularly the shift from amateur dramatics to martial arts and then musical performances. The final sentence, “This is the general overview of this graph,” repeats rather than summarises the information. Organise the response into an introduction, a brief overview, and one or two detail paragraphs. Use links to show meaningful contrasts and changes over time, rather than relying on a sequence of loosely connected statements.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “fast growing,” “fall dramatically,” “flucturing,” and “still growing.” These choices show an attempt to describe change rather than merely list figures. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or spellings are inaccurate, such as “depics,” “aproximatily,” “interst,” and “attracting activity.” “Ping Pong” is less suitable than the chart’s label, “table tennis,” in a formal report. Some phrases, including “in the bracket of” and “more participants more than 50,” are also unnatural or unclear. Build a more precise set of trend expressions and use the chart’s formal activity names consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses such as “After that, there is activity which is fast growing” and “At the same time another activity faced fall,” but the response relies mainly on simple sentence patterns, and attempts at longer structures are often faulty. Errors include missing or incorrect articles (“the most attracting activity”), subject–verb agreement (“it remain”), verb forms (“is increase rapidly”), and sentence boundaries where several ideas run together. Punctuation and spacing also make some sentences harder to read. Practise forming accurate comparisons and trend sentences, for example, “The number of table-tennis participants rose from about 16 to 54.” Check agreement, tense, and articles, and divide long statements into complete sentences.
