Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the five activities and give some relevant comparisons, including the film club’s consistently high participation and table tennis’s strong rise. However, the overview is unclear and contains important inaccuracies: amateur dramatics and musical performances were not both among the lowest throughout, and musical performances began at zero in 2000, not 2005. The statement that amateur dramatics was initially lower than musical performances is also incorrect; it started at about 26, while musical performances had no participants. The conclusion that table tennis was at its lowest is misleading, since it rose to second place by 2020. To make the report more complete, summarise the contrasting trends accurately and support them with key figures, especially the decline in amateur dramatics and the growth of table tennis.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an identifiable introduction, overview, detail paragraph and conclusion, and it attempts to connect ideas with phrases such as “Overall,” “On the other hand” and “Lastly.” However, progression is difficult to follow because comparisons and trends are mixed together, and some linking words do not express the relationship clearly. For example, “Whereas, Amateur dramatics and Musical performances were at lowest” is followed by a confusing claim about the middle-ranked activities. The final conclusion repeats an inaccurate ranking rather than bringing the main trends together. Organise the details by trend—for example, stable activities, rising activities and declining activity—and use fewer, more precise transitions. Clearer paragraph focus and references would make the report easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “zig zag pattern,” “increasing steadily” and “decreased,” so the reader can recognise that you are describing changes over time. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. “Activities happened in” is not a natural way to describe the setting, while “was seatedily decresed” appears to be an unsuccessful attempt to describe a decline. “Was on top” and “at lowest” are informal or imprecise for an academic report. Spelling errors such as “fim,” “existance” and “decresed” also reduce accuracy. Practise standard trend language and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “even though” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and sentence construction occur frequently: “Table tennis were” should be “Table tennis was,” and “Amateur dramatics were” should be “Amateur dramatics was.” The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure (“activities happened in one of the Melbourne social center”). Several fragments or awkwardly joined clauses, such as “Whereas, Amateur dramatics and Musical performances were at lowest,” interrupt the flow. Capitalisation after commas is inconsistent, and punctuation around “Whereas” and “On the other hand” is often faulty. Use shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses only when their structure is clear.
