Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall patterns: film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises markedly, and amateur dramatics declines. Several figures are also close to the chart, including film club at about 65 in 2000 and 66 in 2020, and amateur dramatics falling to around 5–6. However, some key details are misreported: table tennis starts at about 16, not 26, and rises to roughly 54; martial arts is around 36 in 2000 and 36 in 2020, rather than 38 and 37. The overview also says amateur dramatics decreased “over the five years,” which does not accurately describe the full period. Musical performances began in 2000, not 2005. More accurate reporting and clearer coverage of the timeline would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and detail paragraphs, and it groups several activities together for comparison. Linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “Furthermore” and “Meanwhile” help signal relationships between points. However, some connections are not fully logical: “In contrast” introduces table tennis figures that are inaccurate, while the overview’s “Moreover” does not clearly show how martial arts relates to the preceding point. The detail paragraph also moves between activities without consistently presenting their changes in chronological order. Clearer paragraphing and a more systematic sequence—for example, describing the leading and rising activities before the declining and fluctuating ones—would make the progression easier to follow. Check spacing and punctuation around sentence boundaries as well.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “dramatic growth,” “stood at” and “climbed,” so the main trends are generally understandable. However, some choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing a line graph. “Contestants” is not suitable for people taking part in social-centre activities, and “attendeesin” contains a spelling or spacing error. Phrases such as “lowest in fugure” and “was not in first five yeras i started” are difficult to interpret because of spelling and word-choice problems. “Accounted for 26” is also an awkward way to report a participant total. Use consistent terms such as “participants” or “members,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including contrast clauses with “but” and “however,” and most of the intended meaning can be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence boundaries and clause construction. For example, “film club stood at roughly 65 participants, this figure fell to 60” joins two independent clauses with only a comma; use a full stop or a conjunction. In “the number of participants of table tennis accounted for 26,” the noun phrase and verb pattern are not well formed. There are also inconsistent tense forms and missing spaces after full stops, as in “members.Musical.” Aim for complete, clearly punctuated sentences and maintain past tense when describing the historical data.
