Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main patterns accurately: film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises sharply, amateur dramatics falls, and musical performances grow from zero. The overview is relevant, and most figures are close to the chart, including the film club’s end value and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and martial arts falls to about 34 in 2015 rather than 37. The table-tennis account also omits its substantial rise by 2015. This covers the task well overall, but some series are reported more fully than others; clearer, more precise comparisons would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an overview followed by paragraphs describing the activities, and the reader can generally follow the chronological account. However, progression is weakened by the repeated conversational transitions “now lets talk about” and by long sentences that combine several years and figures. Some links are unclear, such as “after that its climbed sharply to 53 in 2020,” which skips the 2015 value. Paragraphing could group related trends more deliberately, and punctuation between sentences needs attention. Use a concise overview, then organise the details into clear groups—for example, rising or stable activities and declining activities—and use time markers consistently.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “fluctuation,” “dramatic increase,” “declined sharply,” and “remains the most popular,” which helps describe trends. However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings reduce clarity: “quantity of participants” is less natural than “number of participants,” while “massive raise” and “climbed sharply” are imprecise or awkward in this context. Errors such as “table tenes,” “dramtics,” and “modertely” also make the writing less polished. Aim for accurate, varied trend language and check spelling carefully. Terms such as “rose,” “fell,” “remained stable,” and “fluctuated” can describe the data more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with time clauses, so there is some variety. However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors in tense, sentence boundaries, articles, and agreement occur throughout. For example, “in 2000 its stand on 36 people” needs a past-tense verb and a clearer construction, while “after 5 years its declind” also has an incorrect verb form. Several sentences run together, as in the film-club description, and capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas with accurate clauses. Consistent past-tense reporting and full stops would make the figures easier to understand.
