Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main high and low categories and report several broad trends: film club remains the largest, table tennis rises strongly, and amateur dramatics declines. However, some key details are inaccurate or unclear. Film-club participation falls only slightly to about 60 in 2010, not by around five, and ends near 66 rather than 70. Musical performances are described as the least popular, but their numbers rise from zero to about 18, while amateur dramatics falls to roughly six. The overview also omits the notable rise in table tennis and the broadly fluctuating martial-arts figures. Select the main trends accurately and compare the series more clearly to make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening overview followed by details about several activities, and time markers such as “in 2005” and “in 2020” help establish chronology. However, progression is difficult to follow because the information is presented in one long body paragraph, and the overview is not clearly separated from the data description. Some links are awkward or misleading, such as “while after 5 years in 2005 it drop to 30 in 2020,” which compresses several dates and obscures the sequence. Grouping the rising activities together and the declining or fluctuating ones together, with clear sentences and paragraphing, would create a more coherent progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “grew,” “decline,” and “drastically,” so the reader can generally identify the trends you intend to describe. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “lowest intrest” does not accurately describe participation, and “number of participants of melbourne” is an unsuitable phrase for the activities at the centre. There are also repeated spelling errors, including “differenet,” “activites,” and “clube.” Use precise terms such as “participation,” “figure,” and “rose/fell,” and check spelling and collocations to make comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with time clauses, but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur in phrases such as “the number of participants are” and “it drop,” while “It can clearly seen” is missing a necessary verb form. Several sentences join multiple ideas without clear punctuation, as in the martial-arts description, making the timeline hard to interpret. Articles and sentence construction are also unreliable, and the response relies heavily on similar basic patterns rather than showing controlled variety. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past-tense forms, and divide comparisons into complete sentences; this will make the information easier to understand.
