Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall movements: table tennis and musical performances rise, while amateur dramatics declines, and you note that film club and martial arts change relatively little. These are relevant features and give the response a clear overview. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: table tennis rises from about 16 to 20 participants between 2000 and 2005, rather than gaining “almost 15” by 2010; amateur dramatics starts at about 26 and falls, rather than showing an “addition of 25.” The account also omits the film club’s consistently highest figures and the relatively stable, fluctuating pattern in martial arts. More precise comparisons and a few correctly selected figures would make the key trends better supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing trends. Phrases such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is weakened by repeated summary statements, especially the final “To sum up,” which largely repeats the overview rather than adding a useful comparison. Some links are awkward or unclear: “By 2000 to 2010” does not clearly identify the period, and “On the other side” introduces the film club and martial arts without explaining their relationship to the previous trends. Group the series more deliberately and use clear time references so the reader can follow each change across the period.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “increased,” “decline,” “fluctuation,” and “stable,” which helps communicate the broad patterns. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “very bad results,” “shows addition,” and “gain attention.” These expressions are imprecise for describing participant numbers and sometimes make the intended trend harder to understand. Spelling errors, including “austrailia,” “sharpliy,” “intrest,” and “performamces,” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of trend phrases—such as “rose sharply,” “remained broadly stable,” and “fell to”—and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast with “On the other hand” and a cause-and-effect clause beginning “because.” However, sentence control is inconsistent. For example, “This graph chart illustrate” has subject–verb agreement problems, while “the number of individuals increased, whole join” does not form a clear grammatical relationship. There are also errors in articles, plurals, and verb forms, as in “amateur dramatics departments shows” and “film and martial arts shows.” Punctuation is sometimes missing or misplaced, particularly around sentence boundaries. Aim first for accurate simple sentences describing each series, then add subordinate clauses once the basic subject and verb are secure.
